How to Get Back on Track

Jiu jitsu can’t be my only exercise during the week. I need to get my ass back to the gym. An accountability group would be great for me like they tell me “hey mother f**ker have you been to the gym today?!” and then I’d go.

A person on Twitter recently volunteered to send me a weelky reminder to get my ass to the gym. I’m lucky.

Another person on Twitter sent me an invite to a Discord server. An accountability men’s group for fitness, diet, and lifestyle. Just what I need. For example, I already have a daily challenge to start today: 50 squats.

Self-improvement is not sustainable everyday of your life. Hear me out. For the most part, setting goals and creating good habits is the way to go. But let’s be realistic, life gets in the way. You get sick, your grooming slips, you lose some money, unexpected expenses, too many responsibilities, etc. You may skip the gym. Not go to jiu jitsu class as much. Start eating poorly. All of which happened to me. And that’s okay. Life happens. Just make sure to get back on track. And asking for help is a good first step. I’ve done this many times and more or less got back on track the same way.

How to Get Back on Track:

  1. Accept you need a change in your life
  2. Ask for help
  3. Hold yourself accountable in combination with help from others
  4. Have fun

I know I need to get eating better again. I know I need to exercise more (going to the gym on a regular basis). And I know I need to start tracking my spending again. I’m lucky I reached out on Twitter and had some people offer to help. Now I have to put in the work and see where it goes. Hopefully back on track.
