UPDATE: Check out the #RIPTwitter If you want to see peoples reaction on Twitter is to the new subscription service!
“Tech CEO says Twitter needs to go ‘all in’ on subscriptions”Weston Blasi, Feb 23, 2021, MarketWatch
Twitter, as we know it, is gone.
What was once unfiltered access to anyones mind (timeline) anywhere, anytime – is going behind paywalls.
If you are a content creator and you want to grow an audience, Twitter is a great place to interact and communicate with them. Organic conversations can turn into wonderful mind expanding conversations or can make you take action in your life towards something you have been putting off.
That’s what I like about it, the organic conversations that lead to connections with people you may never have met otherwise.
I have this feeling that the ‘organic connection’ we all enjoy might be negatively affected by the new Twitter Subscription service. On the other hand, putting ones content behind a paywall will get rid of any nasty internet-trolls. The exact type of people you don’t want to interact with, won’t pay for your content and will go bug someone else.
What’s The Difference Between a Tribe and an Echo-chamber?
Twitter used to be for everyone, uncensored. But now, with way more people online than ever – comes different, danerous, and provocative ideas.
Is it a good idea to have people who only agree with each other congregate in one online community?
Is it better to have diverse views in an online community?
Would you want to surround yourself with people who have the same interests and values as you?
Where is the balance between blocking out bad ideas while also allowing yourself to be challenged and learn new things?
They say, “Find your tribe” What does that mean?
To me, it means finding people who are similar to you in a healthy way and creating your lives amongst each other. Your tribe will have similar beliefs and values and morals as you. The people in your group may even become part of your family.
They say, “Don’t fall into the echo-chamber” What does that mean?
To me, it means don’t surround yourself with people that agree with everything you do. People who never challenge your beliefs or create an identify that is their own.
People tend to wrap their ideas up with their identity. If you disagree with their ideas, you are disagreeing with their identity – who they are as a person.
Ideas don’t make a person. Opinions can change. But someones values and morals stay pretty much the same.
